The material of the piercing jewelry has a huge importance in terms of the healing of the piercing and in the future, when the jewelry is on you all the time!

In the worst case, bad and cheap materials such as surgical steel will give you years of complicated threads for your piercing. The following things are counted as mild material complications, even though your piercing should have already healed. Leaking from the piercing (tissue fluid/blood), heat, redness, swelling and intermittent pain. Worse complications are scar tissue spasms (usually disappear by changing the material to a better one), intermittent fever, onset/worsening of a nickel allergy, permanent discoloration of the skin (cheap metals remove color from jewelry) and constant soreness of the piercing.

If you suffer from any of these symptoms, please contact us. Many people have received help from us for complications arising from piercings just by changing the jewelry.

We recommend using only the following materials for piercings:

1. Implant grade titanium (Ti-6AL-4V-ELI ASTM F136) Please note that the code is the same and the piercing jewelry is a branded product. If the seller does not know the brand of the product, it is possibly a cheap production and the quality cannot be guaranteed. This material is suitable for first jewelry. Titanium as a piercing jewelry material is excellent. It is a durable, light, rigid and dense metal that resists age and corrosion well.

2. Nickel-free gold. Not all gold is nickel-free. In the market, you should be careful and ask what the sold gold contains before making a purchase. There are clear Laboratory test templates for the piercing jewelry we sell, which show the concentrations of different metals in 14- and 18-karat gold. This material is also suitable as first jewelry.

3. 24 carat gold PVD coated implant grade titanium. The purest 24K gold is used in a PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) coating, which is not the same as ordinary gold plating. The process is physical, not chemical. This results in a high-quality coating that is resistant to wear, scratches and heat, for example. The coating is also harmless to the human body and environmentally friendly. It is important to note here that the product below is implant grade titanium.

4. Niobium is a pure element, i.e. no other metals are mixed with it. Niobium is used by many who cannot tolerate any other materials. Niobium jewelry can be ordered through us.

But I’ve never had any symptoms of surgical steel or steel piercing jewelry?

Even if you have been using unfavorable materials for years, you have still been able to avoid complications… for now. Usually, these complications only show up after years of use, when it shows up as sensitization, i.e. you start to develop symptoms little by little and one day you can’t wear “trinket” jewelry anymore.

These softer steel products dissolve metal residue all the time in your body. In the worst case, you have also developed a nickel allergy along the way.

Surgical steel is known to be safe material?

Just like today, everywhere we are offered incorrect information based solely on the pursuit of sales. At LuxJewelle, we are primarily interested in the health and safety of our customers, so we want to trade honestly and be open about the products we sell.

Surgical steel just as a word reveals its weakness. It is steel, i.e. a really strong mixture of different metal combinations, including nickel. In the worst case, these materials will rust on the user.

How does your product differ from other shops offering the same material?

As we mentioned earlier, it is important that you know who the manufacturer/manufacturer of the jewelry is. Thus, you can freely access the manufacturer’s website to examine reliable laboratory data and certificates for the jewelry you wear.

If you don’t know the brand or the seller doesn’t know the brand and doesn’t have a link to guide you to these tests, they probably haven’t been performed.

The jewelry market is very much the wild west and consumers are sold a lot of bad things with beautiful words.

Choose a suitable size non-threaded base part

Tips for choosing the right labret post

3mm and 4mm options are available for the width of the back part of the post. Here are some things to consider when choosing the right size:

  • For piercings that are healing, we recommend a 4mm back part.
  • Piercings inside the mouth, e.g. a lip jewelry, also require a 4mm back part, so that the back part does not sink into the soft tissue inside the mouth.
  • If you choose a large, more decorative (e.g. arch-shaped) tip part, the Labret heel part 4mm width also gives your jewelry additional support.
  • The side of the nose with a 3mm piercing does not collect body fluids as much and does not take up space in the nostril. It is also not visible from there on the smaller back and does not feel uncomfortable to use.
  • In the tragus piercing, the 3mm back part makes it easier to use earphones and doesn’t collect so much earwax.

Tips for choosing length and thickness

Please note that the size suggestions are indicative recommendations and you can get confirmation of the perfect size for you from the piercing shop.

With a threadless labret base for the following piercings:

  • Earring (the most used sizes are 0.8mm-1.2mm thickness and 5mm-7mm length.)
  • Cartilage jewelery (helix, forward helix, conch and tragus jewelery The most used sizes are 1.2mm thickness and 6mm-7mm length.)
  • Earring (the most used sizes are 0.8mm-1.2mm thickness and 6mm-7mm length.)
  • Lip jewelry (medusa-, labret- Ashley jewelry, The most used sizes are 1.2mm thickness and 7mm-8mm length.)

For easier jewelry installation

Selection of insertion pin size

Choose your insertion pin according to the size of the jewelry you ordered. If your jewelry is 1.2mm in size, also choose 1.2mm as the thickness of the insertion pin. The threadless insertion pin is suitable for the installation of jewelry without threads. You can also carefully bend the insertion pin slightly at an angle, so you can get it better for narrow ear piercings, such as forward helix and tragus piercings. Keep the insertion pin for your other jewelry as well, because you can use it on all your jewelry with the same thickness and fastening mechanisms.

The insertion pin can also be used as a stretcher!

The insertion pin is also very suitable for stretching. The insertion pin is designed so that one end is very thin, so that you can easily find your piercing hole, and the other end of the insertion pin is the size of the desired thickness. For example, if your septum jewelry is currently 1.2 mm thick, you can order a 1.6 mm thick insertion pin and a 1.6 mm thick jewelry that you can easily put in place with the insertion pin. This way you can safely reach the desired size little by little.
